Accounting and Human Resources Manager
The Accounting and Human Resources Manager is very detail oriented and possesses excellent organizational and negotiation skills. The Accounting and Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing the profit margins as set, the quality standards and the company’s integrity both within the company and in the field. As well as maintain and manage the Human Resource needs for Goorin Brothers, Inc.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Accounting and Controller
Directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Accounting Manager is responsible for the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The position involves supervision over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls.
Essential Functions:
- Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
- Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the Department.
- Maintains the company's system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.
- Establishes major economic objectives and policies for the company and prepares reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
- Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances.
- Is responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
- Furnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.
- Evaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
- The Accounting Manager has the final responsibility for providing effective financial controls for the organization.
- Evaluate, set-up and maintain the Chart of Accounts
- Inventory analysis required to maintain the integrity of the book inventory.
- Manage the migration from cash basis to accrual.
- Reviews, reconciles, and evaluates monthly ledgers, budgets, and financial reporting system reports for unit accounts; assists with fiscal planning, development, and management of annual budgets.
- Implement markdowns as it applies to the ledger.
Human Resources and Admin Services
- Implement budgeting criteria for each departmental manager.
- Maintain, amend, and distribute any changes to policies for Employee Handbook.
- Supervises personnel that typically include recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
- Plans, develops, and coordinates the execution of program policy, procedures, and operations; monitors compliance with Goorin Brothers, Inc. Policies, procedures, regulations, and appropriate laws.
- Oversees, coordinates, maintains, and/or processes payroll time sheets, sick and annual leave documents, travel reimbursements, purchasing documents, and/or employment documents for faculty, staff, and students.
- Coordinate space assignments for the facility and oversee building security, safety, and maintenance.
- Coordinates Company programs, seminars, workshops, travel arrangements, special projects, and/or events.
